My name is Aspen Shumpert, and I am currently an undergrad student at Washington State University in Pullman, Washington.
I am majoring in Communications; studying Broadcast Journalism and Advertising. Being a part of the Murrow College has been amazing and allowed me to express my creativity in so many ways.
With advertising I got to show my creative sides through learning about proper elements and tools it takes to develop my ideas. I completed many projects with print and graphic visual elements including: posters, fliers, brochures, videos, advertisements, etc. I learned how to navigate and create projects in multiple adobe platforms. I have also completed multiple social media campaigns, that help me learn about effective advertising and budgeting.
With broadcast journalism, it has shown me a different side to things. I suddenly had the urge to always be in the know once I became part of the Murrow College and I learned how deliver news to my community. I am creating/editing all my news stories in Adobe Premiere that get aired and published. Here at Washington State University – Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, students studying broadcast news & production participate in Murrow News 8!
Murrow News 8 is a completely student run news show that airs in the Pullman/Spokane region of Washington every week day! We also live-stream from our YouTube channel. We all get to participate in producing, anchoring, interviewing, writing, talking about the weather and sports.
